Regions with high vitamin K2 intake - such as natto-eating parts of Japan - show notably lower hip-fracture and arterial-calcification rates. K2 is a cheap supplement with no patent upside, so the confirming Western trial has never been funded. Open question: in older adults, does daily MK-7 supplementation reduce fracture risk and arterial stiffness versus placebo? Fund a multi-year randomized trial.
